Reunion Review- June 25, 2005
Well, the reunion has come and gone and it was a weekend to remember...
On Friday night, we met at the Windjammer for some early fun. Weird Science, an 80s cover band played, taking us back a couple decades to big hair and cheesy songs. Julie (Thomas) Mooney rocked to Bon Jovi like it was 1986.
On Saturday afternoon, people starting arriving at 2pm at Goldbug Island. Seventy attended. Name badges were made for everyone with their high school yearbook photo, the school’s name and warrior logo, and the person's name. Identification was less burdensome for those with short memories. We took a group photo which was purchased by many attendees.
Trivia quiz questions were asked and winners received prizes also.
Whose boat was used when class of 95 seniors trashed the courtyard? Heidi’s dad won by Jennifer Sackman Runyan
Who was Homecoming Queen? Celeste Singletary won by Tony Coaxum
What was the Senior Prom Theme? Wonderful Tonight won by Billy Ham
Where did we go for our Senior Picnic? Old Ft. Dorchester Park won by Tracy Loman Alewine
Whose HS job was at Ye Old Fashioned Ice Cream and FINEs? Trina Brewer
Who worked at the Cookie Company? Steven Sloan won by Lashay Montgomery
Old yearbooks were laid out and pictures from high school dropped down from the ceiling. We gave out Warrior Awards for which winners also received a prize.

The most eligible Bachelor/Bachelorette were the most fun to watch and to try to determine a winner.
Eligible Bachelorettes included Celeste Singletary, Kim Basso, Zaida Jimenez, Trina Brewer, and Andrea Wolfe. A runway dance off gave each contestant a chance to impress elgible bachelor, Travis Everett. The final two contestants were Celeste Singletary and Trina Brewer who danced for another bachelor, Chris Cox, who had to decide between the two. Trina Brewer was selected.
Eligible Bachelors include Billy Ham, Brent Morris, Brett Carter, Eric Johnson, Jon Elgarico, and Travis Everett. Steven Sloan, our MC, led the bachelors in a rendition of YMCA and gave them each a chance to impress the most eligible bachelorette, Trina Brewer. It came down to two contestants, Eric Johnson and Brett Carter. By audience applause, Eric Johnson was declared the most eligible bachelor.
We played our own rendition of the Newlywed game. Three couples were selected randomly and asked a total of six somewhat embarrassing or at least revealing questions.
Couple #1 was John and Kristina Fisher.
Couple #2 was Mark and Reneka Prynkiewicz.
Couple #3 was Tony and Derrin Coaxum were the winners.
We also played our own rendition of Survivor. Players were unknowingly being chosen when our MC asked everyone to get a $1 bill and pass it around the table while Mission Impossible theme song was being played. The person caught with the dollar bill when the music stopped was selected as a Survivor player. Nine players brought their chair to center stage. Players were to find the item announced by the MC as quickly as possible and return to their chair. For each round, a chair was removed so the person who returned last was without a seat and kicked of the island. One of the “items” was the opposite sex who did not come as a guest of the player. The remaining players gained a partner who had to perform the tasks together. The last item was a perfect square of toilet paper. Brett Carter intervened to assist Billy Ham and his acquired partner, Jennifer Wright who was pregnant. Billy and Jennifer split a cash prize.
Memorials for our classmates, Jarvis Smith and Derrick Singleton, who passed away were remembered by their pictures and burning candles. Door prizes were given away at random, the first of which was won by Jared Driscoll, a gift certificate to Wild Wing Café. Lights were dimmed and some danced to old school music and some new stuff.
As far as next time, the Reunion Survey showed that you are ready for another one in 5 years. June seemed to be a popular month so if we can, we will try to book the next one in June, probably the last weekend of the month. The most popular feedback we received was that the Friday night event was extremely fun. Votes were tied between the informal day and formal day. One suggestion might be to do one informal event and one formal one. Many venues are booked at least one year in advance so if you think of any venues, theme, idea suggestions, please submit them as you think of them. While we had some great suggestions, please remember that we are limited by cost to make the event reasonably priced and we can be limited due to RSVPs. We appreciate those who RSVP in advance because that helps with anticipating costs. We look forward to the next event. There has been discussion about hosting informal event once a year for those who live near by or those who are able to make the trip. Hope to see you all soon! Thanks for a successful reunion!
